The story of Avaa Verjus begins in Berlin where Benjamin, Edward and Jakob have been involved with exceptional food and regional cuisine for many years.
From ancient Greece to the Middle Ages, verjus was Europe's first choice acidifier and condiment due to its flavour and healing properties. When the Crusaders returned from the Middle East and brought the lemon with them, verjus was gradually forgotten. But now, centuries later, we are finally celebrating its comeback.
In addition to healthy malic and tartaric acids, verjus contains potassium, magnesium and calcium. However, Verjus develops its strongest effect thanks to its high content of polyphenols (up to 1400 mg/l): They have an anti-inflammatory effect and are even said to prevent cancer.
Verjus is a prime example when it comes to short transport routes, environmentally friendly production and the highest quality standards.
Products
Only the finest handpicked organic grapes from the Rheinhessen wine region in the Palatinate are used to produce our verjus. A unique selection of various types of grape, such as Pinot Noir and Riesling, is what gives Avaa its unmistakably fruity taste.
The Verjus Spritz can be and is an ideal aperitif, sundowner or accompaniment to an aperitif. It has a fruity, tart flavour and is refreshing at the same time.
Mixed with Tonic or sparkling water it is a great non-alcoholic white wine spritzer

Based on an old family recipe from 1972 by Aunt Amandine and Uncle Jean from their artist's garden Jardin du Paradis. Almost 50 years later, they have passed on their knowledge of the perfectly refreshing summer aperitif to us. And in true French style: Avec Plaisir.
Hand-picked juice from unfermented Chardonnay grapes, fresh verjus and intoxicating damiana meet unique macerates of grapefruit, mountain peach, elderflower and bitter orange, elderflower and bitter orange.
